Right of privacy

Kantar Media is one of Norway's largest provider of analysis-based consulting and provides advisory services to both public and private companies. Norsk Gallup is a subsidiary fully owned by Kantar Media Norge AS and is responsible for Kantar Medias's data collection process. The results of our surveys form the basis of important decisions for our customers. The information we collect is processed statistically and anonymously before reporting. We treat all information confidentially.

What personal data do we process?

Our population database contains information about name, address, gender, age, geography and telephone number for individuals over the age of 15 living in Norway. All this information is obtained from public registers. You can read more about how we have obtained your contact information here: http://www.kantar.no/om/norsk-gallup/ofte-stilte-sporsmal/

In addition, we have a database for businesses. This contains information about industry, company size, turnover, and contact information for all companies registered in Norway. The information is obtained from the Brønnøysund Register Centre.

How do we process your personal data?

Our mission is to provide an accurate picture of the population’s opinions, attitudes and behavior. To achieve this, it is important that as many as possible of those we contact are willing to participate. By taking part in surveys, you have the opportunity to express your views and influence the development of products and services.

When you participate in a survey, we will never disclose your identity to our client. Norsk Gallup Institutt AS and Kantar Media Norge AS handle all personal data confidentially. We will never publish information about what individual persons have answered. Personal data is processed by a small number of employees who are bound by confidentiality. The survey is conducted in accordance with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority’s guidelines for processing personal data.

To make better use of the data, we may in some cases link your responses with publicly available information. Your personal data may be combined with data from other individuals to form groups with specific characteristics. For example, such groups may indicate the likelihood of reading online or print newspapers, buying a car, or using cultural services. It is not possible to link data from such groups back to individuals, and your personal data will be deleted afterwards. The purpose is to use the data for statistical analyses and marketing of products to relevant groups.

By participating in our surveys, you consent to the information you provide being stored for up to three years. The data is stored only in Europe and in accordance with the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We follow the laws, guidelines and industry standards that apply to our business and safeguard the confidentiality, anonymity and privacy needs of our participants. In addition to the Personal Data Act and the Data Protection Authority’s guidelines, this also includes the ethical rules and industry standards of Esomar and the Norwegian Market Research Association. Our routines, systems and procedures comply with the industry’s ISO standards and ethical guidelines.

Children’s personal data

We will always obtain consent from a guardian if we collect information about children under the age of 15.

Your answers are used exclusively for statistical analyses

Norsk Gallup collects data for market analysis, opinion polls, and other types of statistical surveys. The information you provide is not used for any form of marketing or sales directed at you. Our clients only receive information that is statistically processed or data that cannot be traced back to individual respondents. We will always ask for explicit consent in advance if our clients are to receive data that may identify individuals.
